Early Intervention

Our play-based approach uses toys, songs and games to keep each child engaged as we work as a team to increase language and communication development. Language is based in imitation, so you’ll learn how to help your little one use signs, gestures, sounds and words to meet their wants and needs!

What are some things that a speech therapist can help with?

    • Reacting to events and people in the environment

    • Initiating interactions

    • Turn-taking, attending to activities, joint attention with others

    • Play skills, imitation of gestures and signs, social games with others

    • These skills develop before words emerge and provide the foundation for communication

    • Following directions and daily routines

    • Learning how to make choices and learn new vocabulary words

    • Responding to questions

    • Using gestures, sounds and words to communicate

    • Increasing vocabulary

    • Combining words to make short phrases

    • An SLP can help your child improve their articulation skills, or ability to be understood. A formal evaluation will help to gauge if your child is producing sounds like their peers
